This food development placement will give you just that, at The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan you’ll be fully immersed into our small, yet high performing Product team, working collaboratively to develop new and exciting weight management products from concept to launch. Throughout your placement, you can expect to act as if you are a Technologist, with accountability for your own projects and workload.
Please note this is for undergraduate students only who are required to complete a year in industry as part of your undergraduate (i.e. bachelor's) degree and is not suitable for those completing a Master's
Salary: £21k per annum + access to our amazing company benefits
Location: Corby, Northants – you’ll need to be in a commutable distance to our site, so relocation may be required
Hours of work: Monday – Friday 08:30-16:30

What will I be doing?
Supported by our Senior Technologist, you’ll be assisting with conducting taste panels, making up product samples and running tasting group sessions, all whilst developing your knowledge of our end-to-end Stage & Gate process. Aside from NPD, you’ll also get to work on existing product development and reformulations across our core ranges. A typical day may also involve;
- Supporting factory and shelf-life trials
- Conducting competitor analysis and tracking global activity
- Work collaboratively with our Sales and Marketing teams to identify customer insight
Is this placement right for me?
You’ll need to have completed your 2nd year as part of a Food Science, Food Technology or Nutrition based degree that offers a one-year industrial placement. Naturally, you’ll have a keen interest in the food industry and ideally the impact of food and nutrition along with the drive and ambition to work collaboratively and drive improvements where identified.
This placement will be based at our Corby, Northamptonshire HQ so you’ll either need to be based in a commutable distance or be able to relocate for the duration of your placement.
It can be daunting to find yourself in an unfamiliar environment so we’ll aim to provide any support you share that you may need.
What’s the assessment process?
Once you’ve applied, we’ll review your application and then if successful, we’ll invite you to meet with us virtually for a video interview to get to know you a bit more. The final step will then be a follow up interview or assessment centre which will be held at our Global HQ in Corby.
